A Life Hangs in the Balance
“Sepsis is the cause of 1 in 5 deaths worldwide.” (World Health Organization)
The most common cause of sepsis is a bacterial infection stemming from parasitic, fungal, or viral infection. It can be difficult to determine the source of the infection and the location, as it could be anywhere throughout the body. Identifying sepsis is not only challenging but extremely time-sensitive.
Patients have a mere matter of hours to make their own informed decisions. PCR tests offer a higher potential for rapidly identifying bloodstream infections. It is essential that tests are performed diligently and with pure reagents to provide accurate results. When the time is ticking, why test more than once to find the right diagnosis?
